Helping to Fund the Path to Independence
THE HOMELESS ASSISTANCE FUND, INC. (HAFI) is a private, independent foundation that funds the removal of barriers that
prevent homeless individuals and families from accessing permanent housing. HAFI makes grants to homeless service providers
who offer programs and projects that help homeless individuals and families become self-sufficient, with the focus of moving
their clients into permanent housing.

HAFI has been recognized as one of seven recipients of the 2020 Secretary’s Award for Public- Philanthropic Partnerships. This national program, a partnership between the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Council on Foundations, recognizes excellence in partnerships that transform the relationships between the sectors and lead to measurable benefits in housing and community development, including housing access for low-income families.
Since 2005, HAFI has invested $2.89 million in high capacity, homeless service providers in Philadelphia, enabling 1,850 households to transition from homelessness to permanent housing, and supporting over 700 formerly homeless individuals to obtain employment.
